MEMPHIS, Tenn. — After two years faithfully serving the Mid-South community as a meteorologist at ABC24 and CW30, the station is delighted to announce Danielle Moss has been named our next chief meteorologist.
Danielle worked tirelessly during severe storm seasons, including last March’s deadly tornadoes, bringing viewers wall-to-wall coverage and lifesaving information. She is the station’s first Black woman to hold the position.
As chief meteorologist, Danielle will help build and lead our weather team, ensuring we continue providing the region with our Certified Most Accurate Weather forecasts.
"Before becoming the chief meteorologist here at ABC24, Danielle has shown her commitment to the Memphis and Mid-South community,” said Denisha Thomas, ABC24's News Director. “Whether it's through educating our children on how to stay safe during severe weather or even educating adults on weather safety, I know that commitment will only grow stronger in this new role. We are excited to have Danielle leading our team and upholding our reputation as one of the most trusted sources of weather information in the Mid-South."
Since joining the ABC24 family, Danielle has led the charge for Weather School visits, where she brings weather to life for students with unique experiments explaining how storms start and finish.
"Being in the community is my favorite part of the job,” said Moss. “My goal is to lead the team’s efforts as we focus on being community-minded meteorologists. Another hope is to inspire young girls to pursue S.T.E.M., especially young black girls. Not many meteorologists look like me, and I want them to know if I can do this, they can too."
Danielle officially goes to work as chief meteorologist Friday, Nov. 3.
