Despite weather concerns, Cooper-Young Festival draws massive crowd

The Cooper-Young Business Association previously considered holding the event on Sunday due to concerns over rainfall over the weekend.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. โ€” This year's Cooper-Young Festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024 from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.

The 36th Cooper-Young Festival will be headlined by Queen of Memphis Soul, Karla Thomas, best known for hit songs such as "Gee Whiz", "B-A-B-Y" and "Tramp", a duet with Otis Redding.

The Cooper-Young Business Association CYBA previously considered holding the event on Sunday due to concerns over the impacts of storm Francine which made landfall on Wednesday.

While scattered showers may affect Memphis on Saturday, the CYBA says the rain wonโ€™t affect The Cooper-Young Festival directly.

Guests will also get the chance to enjoy an appealing mix of art, music and crafts presented by over 435 artisans from around the country.
