The contest was held at Liberty Park in Midtown Memphis, which has been announced as next year's venue for the event as well.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — In a year where two barbecue cooking contests covered the Mid-South, the 46th annual Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Contest crowned their winners on Saturday, May 18.

The "Grand Champion" award was given to "The Shed BBQ," hailing from Ocean Springs, Mississippi. They did so in the Whole Hog category.

Lead by Brad Orrison and his sister Brooke Lewis, this was the third time the team won this award. The team has been a competitor for 17 years, according to Memphis in May.

In the "shoulder" category, Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q won. In "Ribs," Heath Riles BBQ Team took the prize.

Next year's Memphis in May barbecue contest festival dates were announced, taking place at Liberty Park once again.

"We are excited to partner with Memphis in May to continue to grow this iconic event here at Liberty Park," said Brian Hoffman, General Manager of Simmons Bank Stadium & Liberty Park. "Its tradition of celebrating great barbecue makes it a summer staple here in Memphis, and, because of our space and team here at Liberty Park, we believe it is the perfect venue to host the WCBCC and represent our community.”

Officials said the competition hosted 129 competition teams from 22 states and four foreign countries.
