MEMPHIS, Tenn. — ABC24 is remembering the life of longtime photojournalist and visual storyteller Michael Morrison, who passed away tragically at the age of 36 Wednesday.
Michael was beloved by all who knew him, and was a cherished part of the ABC24 family.
He was a proud part of our team for nine years, and was one of the pillars of our team of photographers and visual storytellers. He was always eager to provide mentorship to our newer team members, and was a person to rely on when junior photographers needed help or guidance.
"If you know Michael you know that he was always finding a way to help our team and our community," said ABC24 News Director Denisha Thomas. "I can remember getting texts from Michael after his morning shift, just to make sure we didn't miss the big news of the day. He will truly be missed by us all."
Michael was a member of our morning show team, and was a vital part in bringing live breaking news coverage to our morning crew. He was a great teammate and even better friend to the entire morning show team.
"[Michael was so] kind and selfless with people he loved and people he just met," said Lindy Morrison, Michael's wife. "To be loved by Michael is the greatest experience I've ever had with love. I can't tell you enough how broken my heart is to not have him."
The entire ABC24 family is heart broken over Michael's loss, and are keeping Lindy and their two young daughters in our thoughts and prayers.
A family friend has set up a GoFundMe to help the family during this time.
