MEMPHIS, Tenn. — For families considering bringing home a new member for the holidays, Memphis Animal Services will host its third annual 12 Hours of Christmas adoption event Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023.
The adoption fun runs Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the shelter at 2350 Appling City Cove.
All dog and cat adoption fees will be waived, and a $50 pet supply store gift card goes home with every dog or cat adopted, while supplies last. Plus, every adopted pet will get to choose a gift from under the Christmas tree to take home.
There will be hot chocolate for humans, and first family photos for those welcoming a new furry friend.
The event is happening during the Bissell Pet Foundation’s national Empty the Shelters, which runs from Dec. 1 through 17. The Bissell Pet Foundation is donating $50 per dog adoption and $20 per cat adoption to shelters which take part.
“This is the most joyful event of the year for our staff and volunteers as they watch dozens of dogs and cats find loving families in time for the holidays,” said Ty Coleman, MAS Director. “It's a heartwarming day that fills us with gratitude for the support of our community.”
All adoptions at MAS, regardless of adoption fee, include: spay/neuter, microchip, vaccines, collar, leash, customized ID tag, and heartworm testing and treatment medications if needed (dogs). The average adoption fee at MAS is $40 but regular fees range from $20 to $80. MAS’s available pet population changes daily and can be seen on their website at memphisanimalservices.com.
