Church Health in Crosstown breaks ground on new outdoor play space for kids

The Playscape at The Well will be available to children of YMCA members and those whose parents are being treated at Church Health.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Church Health in Crosstown broke ground Wednesday on a long-awaited project for Memphis children whose parents are receiving medical care at the center and YMCA members.

The project expands the facilities of The Well, a prevention and wellness center for children six-weeks to 12-years-old and their families.

A new outdoor playscape will feature interactive play equipment, including musical instruments and slides, and green space for kids to play and learn in a safe and controlled environment.

The program will also offer educational programs for children to learn while they play.

Church health hopes to have the space ready for children to start playing and learning by summertime.

“We are proud and humbled to break ground on this much-needed outdoor playscape, creating an oasis of wellness for the children of our patients and YMCA members,” said Dr. Scott Morris, Founder and CEO of Church Health. “Thanks to our generous funders, this dream becomes a reality. We look forward to seeing this area filled with children enjoying the outdoors, the facilities, and each other.”

Church Health said the Playscape is being paid for through funding from Carnival Memphis, US Health Resources and Services Agency, International Paper, The Canale Foundation, The Buckman Foundation, Nike, and The American Academy of Dermatology.
