MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Whataburger drive-thru could be coming to midtown Memphis.
The popular burger chain announced in 2023 it was considering turning the former police station on Union Ave. into its newest Memphis location.
According to new documents filed with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development, the San Antonio-based company wants to modify a permit for a drive-thru at the future restaurant at 1925 Union Ave.
The new Whataburger would also have an outdoor patio with nine tables, landscaping, and 40 parking spaces.
The former police station site is set to be redeveloped into a mixed-use property with a hotel and ten townhouses. The project was approved in August 2023, and the police station was demolished in September.
