#MayorsMealChallenge is raising money for the Mid-South Food Bank and helping local restaurants

All you have to do is take a picture of your take-out/delivery from a local restaurant, then post to social media with the hashtag.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland says the Mayor’s Meal Challenge has been such a success, they are keeping it going for a while longer.

In his blog update Monday, Strickland says $2,500 was raised for the Mid-South Food Bank by people sharing pictures of their take-out and delivery meals from local restaurants.

The mayor says $11,800 has been pledged for the challenge, so now they need you to share and post pictures of your meals from local restaurants.

Here’s how it works, from the Mayor’s blog:

  • Pick up a “to-go” order from local restaurants
  • Post your photos of the food on social media and
  • Tag the City of Memphis or my Facebook page @CityofMemphis or @MayorMemphis and Twitter @CityofMemphis or @MayorMemphis and the restaurant’s page
  • Include the Hashtags #MayorsMealChallenge and #saferathome

If you would like to donate to the food bank visit www.midsouthfoodbank.org/donate. Under the “My Donation is for” tab, select the Mayor’s Meal Challenge.
