MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Tulsa-based HVAC manufacturing company, AAON, Inc. has selected Memphis for a $238 million dollar investment into a new production facility, officials announced on Nov. 11, 2024.
The expansion into Memphis comes after the EDGE board offered a 15-year Jobs Payment-In-Lieu-Of-Tax (PILOT) to AAON.
AAON’s 787,000-square-foot facility will be built at the site of the former American Snuff facility in Southeast Memphis. In a press release, the company said they plan to create 828 new jobs on top of the $238 million dollar investment into Shelby County over the next five years.
The Tulsa-based manufacturer employs around 4,000 people worldwide.
Since 2020, TNECD has supported more than 50 economic development projects in Shelby County, resulting in around 5,700 job commitments and $1.1 billion in capital investment.
"Welcoming AAON to Memphis represents a significant step toward making our market even more competitive on a national level,” said Memphis Mayor Paul Young “With AAON's commitment, we are enhancing our local economy and elevating Memphis as a destination for high-quality jobs and sustainable industry growth."
