In Bartlett, community members celebrated the expansion of an 8-year-old vinyl manufacturing plant.
The expansion for Memphis Record Pressing costs $21.3 million.
The new building will house expanded operations for the record maker including space for 36 new record presses.
This will allow the company to now press more than 120 thousand records a day, which would make "MRP" the largest vinyl record manufacturer by volume in North America.
Brandon Seavers is the co-founder and CEO of Memphis Record Pressing.
"Eighteen months ago, we had about 125 employees," Seavers said. "By the end of this, we're going to have spots for over 500 employees, so we're really looking for help from all over the Memphis area and the Mid-South region — people that are passionate about making something special. That's what we do here at Memphis Record Pressing."
Next week, MRP will hold a second ribbon cutting for the second part of the expansion.
