MEMPHIS, Tenn — On Saturday, the FedEx Forum held the "Grizz Shop Local" event, supporting over 30 Memphis-based businesses.
As most of these businesses are online-based, such an event created an opportunity for the owners and operators of each individual "store" to meet their customers face-to-face as well as give them a more personable shopping experience.
Valencia Leonard is the owner of "Oh Sweetz Skin Care."
"It's really important to meet our customers here and just get to know them and also tell them what we do," Leonard said.
Jazmyne Tribble is the owner of "BLK Spark," an online candle distributor.
"I don't have a store front so I really depend on these type of events to get the exposure [and] get my products out there," Tribble said. "People love smelling the candles. It's hard to sell it online when people aren't able to smell them, so this opportunity is everything, especially this time of the year."
