Memphis Made Brewing Co. leaving Cooper-Young, headed for the Edge District

The owners said they have been brewing in the Edge District since early 2023, and want to consolidate operations into the one space.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — After 11 years in Cooper-Young, Memphis Made Brewing Co. is moving to Downtown Memphis.

The craft brewery said it is opening its new taproom in late July and consolidating its operations to its facility at 435 Madison Ave. in the Edge District, where it has been brewing since early 2023.

Production at the Cooper-Young building in Midtown began in 2013, which a taproom opening the following year. The owners said the lease is up and the landlord is interested in expanding the space for one of its own companies.

Memphis Made owners said the downtown location has allowed them to expand distribution, and the larger facility makes sense.

“We’ve needed a larger brewery for years and this one will allow us to grow and produce even more styles of beer,” Andy Ashby, co-owner and sales manager, said. “The new taproom will let us continue our mission of educating people about beer and making a positive impact on our city.”

The new taproom will overlook a public gathering space called the Ravine, which hosts pop-ups and festivities in the Edge District.

“It’s bittersweet, we’ll definitely miss Cooper Young, but we’re excited about the opportunities in The Ravine,” Drew Barton, president and head brewer, said. “It’s a very unique space and we can’t wait for people to discover it.”
