MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Sweet Noshings has their original location located on Overton Square in Midtown. They have been at that location for over four years. The current owners acquired the space from previous owners who actually started the business.
The new shop is located at 541 Perkins Ext. It opened to the public on Tuesday, December 13. Tuesday was the soft opening and the owners are planning on a grand opening date.
Both locations have a vibrant and colorful interior, however the East Memphis location has added features including the décor, a soda fridge, stuffed animals and accessories, and public restrooms
The current owners didn't know the history behind the name but the previous owner told them that 'nosh' meant to eat enthusiastically, and that ultimately became the name of the shop.
The East Memphis location is a much bigger space, which allowed the owners to be able to do more with it. "We know that there's so much to offer in the market , and we just found this space, and we were like you know what, let's go ahead and give more, to Memphis, to the kids, to the general public of Memphis," said Zahra Umlani, one of the owners of Sweet Noshings. "We needed a bigger, fun candy shop, that's more than candy, but with ice cream and things like that.
Umlani mentioned that they have over 40 flavors of ice cream, over 30 flavors of fudge, 30 flavors of popcorn, and everything is made in-house. "All the ice cream is our own creation. We just come up with something and be like, 'okay let's try this out,' and we just make them."
Sweet Noshings' hours right now are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with Friday and Saturday being 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
"We just hope everybody loves it and enjoys it, and they come here and they can have fun," said Umlani.
