MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Texas-based Reconext, an aftermarket electronics company, is expanding to the Memphis area with a more than $9 million investment.

Company officials, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, and the state Department of Economic and Community Development made the announcement Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024. It will be Reconext’s first location in Tennessee.

The company said the operations expansion in Memphis will bring more than 200 new jobs, including engineering, administrative, and production positions. The company will locate in southeast Memphis and expects to be fully operational in early 2025.

Reconext delivers supply chain solutions for customers, with a focus on reusing electronics as part of a ‘circular economy.’

“We have been very impressed by the resources and geographic advantages that the region offers and by the strong and welcoming pro-business attitude we have experienced at both the local and state level,” said Dan Perez, CEO of Reconext.

“From Memphis, 95% of global consumers can be reached by air within 72 hours,” said Ted Townsend, President and CEO of the Greater Memphis Chamber. “By choosing Memphis for their expansion, Reconext is leveraging our city's exceptional logistics network to enhance their customer support. With the addition of our diverse IT talent, we anticipate significant success for Reconext in Memphis.”

“These 200 new, high-quality jobs will create greater opportunity for families across this region for years to come,” said Gov. Bill Lee.

“Advanced manufacturing companies employ more than 153,000 Tennesseans, and Reconext’s decision to establish roots in Tennessee is sure to strengthen one of our state’s strongest sectors,” said TNECD Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter.

“The possibility of 200 new jobs coming to the area, particularly those in engineering is very exciting,” said Rep. Joe Towns, Jr. (D-Memphis). “Those are the types of jobs that can encourage our young people and place them on career paths for global expansion opportunities.”
