WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. — A record 4.4 million Americans quit their jobs in September. The south region of the United States reported the highest number of separations in September losing an estimated 2.5 million workers.
Those millions of people left their current jobs for a variety of reasons.
Tityana Pope was hoping to find a new opportunity as she just wasn't satisfied with her current job in security. She was ready for a career that would give her better pay, better hours, and most importantly more excitement.
"I want to be where the action is all the time," Pope said. "If I’m not there I’m not happy, so I want to be where I’m happy."
For her, being a dealer at Southland Casino is West Memphis was the answer.
"Dealing is a very exotic job to me," Pope said.
What drew her in was the chance to exude her charismatic personality, but also meet different people from all over the world at the blackjack table. On top of that, she said this career can take her wherever she wants to go, too.
"I can go anywhere in the world and be a dealer with this profession," Pope said. "I can go to New York, I can go to Vegas, I can go to Oklahoma, anywhere and be a dealer, so I felt like it was just a good thing for me to do."
Pope said if it wasn't for the pandemic pushing her to find new opportunities, she likely would have stayed in her previous job.
Now she is happier than ever she is finding a new passion in an unexpected way.
"If you don’t like what you’re doing right now go ahead and change it because time waits on no one," Pope said.
