GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (GMSD Release) – As a district, GMSD realizes the importance of the ACT, and the impact the scores have on the future of our students. We are proud to see that each year the number of students who score a 21 or above has increased. A score of 21 or above indicates “college and career readiness” on the nationally normed test and is one qualification for the HOPE scholarship in Tennessee. Beginning in 2015 with 74.4% of students scoring in this range, it is a huge testament to teachers in all grade levels that in 2019 that 86.2% of students are deemed holistically prepared for many future paths.
We are also proud that our ACT average composite score has grown. The increase in the composite for our ACT scores from a 25.9 to a 26.3 is an accolade for our district as well as continued validation of the efforts of our GMSD staff.
“The ACT is a great measure for our district becauseinstruction for a student to perform well really begins in the lower grades.Success on the ACT is dependent upon the entirety of a student’s academiccareer from elementary through high school. It could not make me more proud of our staffand of our students for continuing to grow each year,” said SuperintendentJason Manuel.
