RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – UPDATE 7/10/2019 11:00 a.m. – The Mississippi Department of Corrections says Christopher High is now in custody as well.

UPDATE 7/10/2019 10:45 a.m. – One of two escapees from the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Rankin County is now in custody.

Jonathan Blankenship, 31, has been captured. Blankenship escapedwith Christopher Benson High, 28. High is still at large.

Blankenship has been serving five years for aggravatedassault on a police officer and conspiracy to commit a crime in Alcorn County.

High received 12 years for burglary larceny of an unoccupieddwelling in Carroll County.

How the men escaped has not yet been released.

7-8-2019 – Law enforcement agencies are actively searching for two escaped convicts in the area of Pearson Road, south of I-20 in Rankin County.

They received a tip that Jonathan Blankenship and Christopher High might be in the area. The two men escaped from the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility on Friday, July 5. They are considered armed and dangerous.

Law enforcement agencies are urging the public to report any sightings or information to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation at 601-987-1530, MDOC at 601-745-6611, or Crimestoppers at 601-355- TIPS(8477).
