MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Hickory Hill community comes together to celebrate the life of one of their neighbors after a deadly hit and run crash.
The 6 car accident happened less than a week ago near Hickory Hill Road and Sunny Morning Drive.
Friends, family members and neighbors of 51-year-old Lachell Boyd met for the first time in person since she died. Boyd was one of the three victims involved in last Sunday's deadly crash.
Those who knew Boyd honored and cherished her life in a candlelight vigil and released balloons a week after the accident on Saturday, August 3, 2024.
Mary Hastings told ABC24 Boyd was part loving neighbor and pillar for more than 30 years. She said Boyd lived less than 30 seconds away from her own home.
"I think we're all so busy in our own lives that we fail to realize that our neighbors are always there for us. We've all come together because of this," Hastings said.
Seth Dillion, another neighbor of Boyd, told ABC24 that while he didn't know her that well, he knew she was a great person from the brief conversations they had.
"She was a good woman from what I know of her. She was very friendly, very giving, she had a giving heart. She kept to herself," Dillion said. "Not only did no one deserve it, she especially didn't deserve it."
Boyd's family did not want to speak on camera but were present to commemorate Boyd's life.
If anyone has information on who the suspects are in this case they are urged to call the Memphis Police Department.
