New subdivision in Memphis being built to help families secure affordable housing

Officials believe this will help the Raleigh community grow and help stabilize families.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A new subdivision in Raleigh to help families have access to affordable housing and pride of homeownership has broken ground.

"Epping Forest" will include 58 single family homes and 12 condominiums. Homes will have anywhere from 3 to 5 bedrooms and two-car garages.

Officials believe this will help the Raleigh community grow and help stabilize families.

"This is one of the most important projects that could take place within the very fabric of a community, simply because wealth can begin with any family through home ownership," said Bishop Ed Stephens of Golden Gate Cathedral. "So, we are excited...because this is happening in the Raleigh community, a community that has been stretched and stretched."

Prices for the homes start at $280,000, and the program will work to help families qualify for their mortgages.
