MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is facing a murder charge after a shooting in Westwood left a man dead Thursday night.
Shamar Walls, 22, has been charged with second-degree murder.
The Memphis Police Department responded to the shooting Dec. 14 at 6:45 p.m. in the 3900 block of Soapstone Drive, where officers found one man shot. He was pronounced dead.
According to an affidavit, a witness told investigators that when she and the victim had arrived at the home, they found Walls with a child. Walls and the victim then began arguing, leading to a fight between them. During the fight, Walls pulled out a handgun and shot the victim multiple times in the chest before escaping the scene, the witness said.
Walls was later positively identified as the shooter.
He is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday, Dec. 20.
