MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police said a fight between a mom and her daughter's boyfriend led to a shooting in Cordova that left two teens and a man injured.
The Memphis Police Department responded to the shooting May 24, 2024, about 6:30 a.m. in the 8500 block of Chimneyrock Blvd. They found a 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man shot.
According to the MPD report, the mother found her daughter with her boyfriend after he had spent the night. Witnesses told investigators the mom and boyfriend argued, and she told him to get out. The report said the boyfriend told his friend, who was hiding in the attic, to come on out because they got caught.
Once outside, the report said the mother and boyfriend argued and the boyfriend pulled out a gun. Investigators said the mother ran back upstairs inside the house, and he fired one shot toward her. The report said another daughter was holding back the boyfriend yelling "Don't shoot my mom!"
Investigators said at this point, another man in the home came out and started shooting at the boyfriend, who was hit in the back and arm. The daughter was hit on her side. Both were taken to the hospital.
While at the scene, police said Le Bonheur officials called to tell officers a boy showed up with gunshot wounds, and the boy fit the description of the boyfriend's friend from the attic. He had been shot twice in the leg.
Investigators said the man who had fired back at the boyfriend was not at the scene when they got there.
