MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two people are in police custody after pointing a stolen gun at a woman following an alleged argument on Sunday, Nov. 17, according to MPD (Memphis Police Department).
MPD officers responded to a weapons law violation call at the 5900 block of Raintree Drive at around 2 a.m. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the victim who told police she was attempting to stop an argument between two family members. The victim also told police the suspect pointed a gun at her, and told her to stay out of their business. The victim said she then ran into the backyard of the home before the suspect fired shots into the ground.
One witness said the victim ran inside of the home before hearing two gunshots from the backyard.
Both suspects were searched for weapons, and officers were able to locate a black Sig Sauer handgun hidden in the waistband of one suspect, according to MPD.
Investigators ran the handgun through station B, and and found that it was stolen from of Southhaven, Miss.
Both suspects were then taken into custody and transported to 170 N. Main for further questioning, and later transported to 201 Poplar.
An investigation into this incident is underway.
