Three children were hurt and a man is now facing charges after a crash happened Sunday night in Hickory Hill.
Officers with the Memphis Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash Sept. 29, 2024, just before 10:30 p.m. at East Shelby Drive and Hickory Hill Road, where first responders found two girls, ages 13 and 14, and an 11-year-old boy hurt. They were all taken to a hospital in non-critical condition.
A man confessed to investigators that he was approaching the intersection in a Nissan and looking down, causing him to run the red light and hit the driver's side of a second vehicle. A witness told police it was a tremendous collision.
Investigators said the driver was cited with disregarding a red light and financial responsibility. The driver of the second vehicle was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
