MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A person is in custody after an ambulance stolen at a Memphis hospital collided with a police car early Wednesday morning in South Memphis.
Officers responded to the crash Dec. 18 just after 4:30 a.m. in the area of E E.H. Crump Boulevard and South 3rd Street, according to police.
An ABC24 photographer on scene saw that an ambulance appeared to have crashed into an MPD car.
Police confirmed that an ambulance had been taken at Methodist South Hospital and the crash scene is related to the incident. They also said one person was placed in custody.
A spokesperson with Pafford Medical Services in Mississippi said their ambulance had been stolen during a patient drop-off at Methodist South and the company reported the theft shortly before 4:30 a.m. Wednesday. They then used a GPS to track the ambulance.
Employees were not harmed during the incident, according to the spokesperson.
