MARSHALL COUNTY, Miss — Marshall County, Mississippi, deputies are investigating after a body was found early Thursday morning.
Investigators said the body was found about 3 a.m. in a wooded area along Highway 72, about a half-mile east of Cayce Road. They said a person who cleans parking lots of gas stations in the area smelled a bad odor and found the body in a tent.
They said it appears the body had been there for a while, and they are unsure if it is a man or woman.
Hazmat teams were called in to help recover the body.
Investigators said it may be someone who had been missing.
"And the individual has been missing for approximately two months and days so it's pretty accurate with the investigation of the individual we are looking for," said Kelly McMillen with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department.
Marshall County is investigating this as a homicide.
