BOLIVAR, Tenn. — A gun was found at Bolivar Central High School Wednesday morning, Sept. 11, 2024.
The gun was discovered after a student was seen hiding it in the ceiling. The student responsible was taken into custody and the gun was confiscated according to the Bolivar Police Department. No students or staff were injured.
While there was no ongoing threat, the school was placed on light lockdown and parents were permitted to check students out of school early following the incident.
"We are committed to the safety and well-being of our students and staff," said Bolivar Police Chief, Mike Jones. "This situation was handled quickly, and we will continue working with the school and community to ensure everyone remains safe."
This incident is currently under investigation, Bolivar Central High school is now the third public school in the Mid-South to have a gun found on campus within the last five days.
