MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A now-former Bolivar, Tennessee, police officer has been indicted on theft and misconduct charges, accused of stealing a toolbox from a seized vehicle.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) said Granville Lloyd was indicted Sept. 3, 2024, on charges of official misconduct and theft. He was booked into the Hardeman County Jail on Sept. 4, and released on $10,000 bond.

The TBI said it was brought in to investigate at the request of 25th Judicial District Attorney General Mark Davidson.

According to the TBI, the driver of a Ford F-150 truck was stopped on Aug. 8 for improper passing, and then arrested for driving on a revoked license. The truck was seized and towed to the Bolivar Police Department.

The TBI said on Aug. 13, the driver returned to the police department to get his belongings from the truck, and found a toolbox was missing from the truck bed. Investigators reviewed surveillance video, which the TBI said showed a Bolivar police officer taking the toolbox and putting it in his patrol car.

The TBI said agents later recovered the toolbox from Lloyd’s home.

In a statement to ABC24, city leaders said Lloyd was fired from the City of Bolivar Police Department on Aug. 27.
