Three teens charged for carjacking at carwash on Getwell, Memphis Police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Three teenagers have been charged in connection to a carjacking at a carwash on Getwell, according to Memphis Police.

Memphis Police Department (MPD) said two 17-year-olds were charged with carjacking, employment of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony and aggravated robbery. They also said an 18-year-old named Sadat Muhammad was charged with theft of property between $10,000 and $60,000 as well as contributing to the delinquency of a minor. His bond was set at $6,500, according to MPD. 

MPD officers said they responded to a carjacking at Wash World at 1414 Getwell Road on May 28 at about 8:30 a.m. Officers were reportedly told that two armed suspects approached a victim as he got into his Nissan Maxima.

This victim told officers his wallet, phone, keys and his car were taken. On May 24 at about 3:33 p.m. officers received a suspicious call in the 3700 block of Christy Cove, they said. 

Three men were armed and taking a liscence plate off of a Nissan Maxima, according to MPD. Officers said they were able to detain these men in the 3800 block of Tuggle and found out that the Maxima was taken in a carjacking.

Officers said they were able to find the victim of the carjacking's keys and other evidence.
