Cell phone store on Winchester Road burglarized, police find front door in parking lot

Police responded to the burglary Monday, Dec. 11, shortly before 2 a.m. in the 4200 block of Winchester Road at Metro T-Mobile.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Thieves broke into a cell phone store Monday morning in Parkway Village.

The Memphis Police Department responded to the burglary Dec. 11 shortly before 2 a.m. in the 4200 block of Winchester Road at Metro T-Mobile, where officers found the front door in the parking lot.

Police said the door was attached to a trailer hitch by a yellow tow strap. The front of the store had significant damage.

A witness told police four suspects in a dark-colored pickup truck smashed the front door. After stealing multiple items, they drove away, heading north on South Goodlett Street.

Police said video footage showed four men in all-black clothing with gloves and face masks stealing boxes of items from behind the store.

Someone with the store told officers video captured the suspects taking about $5,000 worth of cell phones and accessories, but an inventory must be done to determine exactly how much was stolen.
