MEMPHIS, Tennessee — Charges have been dropped against a man in the August 2020 murder of a pregnant woman outside a Cordova Walgreens.
Keierra McNeil was shot and killed Aug. 20, 2020, outside the Walgreens in the 9000 block of Walnut Grove, at the intersection of Walnut Grove Road and Forest Hill Irene Road shortly before 8 p.m. Memphis Police officers found McNeil unresponsive in the driver's seat of a black Mercedes.
Police originally arrested a suspect for the killing, and he was charged with two counts of first-degree murder. But those charges have been dropped.
More than two years after the killing, court records show charges were dropped on Oct. 17, 2022. The Shelby County District Attorney General's Office told ABC24 in a statement, "After careful consideration, our office has determined that there is not enough evidence to proceed as charged. MPD is continuing to investigate."
In September 2021, MPD investigators released surveillance pictures of two vehicles considered "vehicles of interest" in the case.
