City Gear store on Lamar Avenue burglarized again

Memphis Police arrived at the scene Thursday, Dec. 7, a little after 3 a.m. in the 2900 block of Lamar Avenue.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Thieves targeted a Memphis City Gear store once again early Thursday morning.

The Memphis Police Department arrived at the scene a little after 3 a.m. in the 2900 block of Lamar Avenue, where they saw the store’s front door shattered. 

Witnesses told police that they saw two white cars and a black car outside the store. Multiple suspects then left the cars and broke into the business, getting away with multiple items. One witness said the suspects drove away, heading east on Lamar. 

Police said video footage showed 13 people committing the burglary. Two of them were armed with handguns. 

An employee told police $15,000 worth of merchandise was stolen. 

Thieves hit this very same store in November.
