COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. — One person is in custody after a police chase that started in Collierville Thursday morning ended in Marshall County, Mississippi.
According to the Collierville Police Department, it started around 9:35 a.m. when police received a call about an American flag being stolen from someone's home on Bailey Station Road in Collierville.
Police said the suspect was in a maroon Dodge Ram. On two separate occasions after the initial call, officers found the truck and tried to pull it over. Because the initial charge was a misdemeanor, officers didn't pursue the suspect.
Police said they received a call that the suspect was driving erratically on Poplar Avenue at Collierville-Arlington Road around 11:33 a.m. Officers found the truck again on I-269 near Highway 385.
Officers tried to stop the truck again on I-269 near the Mississippi state line. As the officers were entering Mississippi, supervisors disregarded the attempt to stop the truck.
At that time, the suspect turned around and began ramming two Collierville police cruisers. The suspect drove off again and was pursued by Marshall County Sheriff's Office deputies.
The suspect was taken into custody around 1 p.m. They haven't been identified.
No Collierville police officers were injured during any of the incidents.
