CROSS COUNTY, Ark. — A Cross County, Arkansas, woman was arrested Thursday after the Cross County sheriff said she slept with a student of the school she worked for.
Sheriff David West said deputies arrested 26-year-old Kara Lee, a former Cross County High School employee, after an investigation into incidents spanning November and December, 2023, found she had inappropriate physical touching and sexual intercourse with a male student.
Lee was arrested and charged with three counts of first-degree sexual assault, and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
West said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
On Friday, the school district's superintendent Nathan Morris told ABC24 that Lee was formerly a teacher at the high school, but is no longer employed there.
The Cross County School District has a zero-tolerance policy for inappropriate relationships, and we continue using our best efforts to provide students with a safe and healthy educational environment," Morris said.
