MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Court records show charges have been dismissed against a woman arrested after a shooting in a Walmart parking lot in southeast Memphis.
Charges of aggravated assault were dismissed "Nolle Prosequi" on Aug. 2, 2024, according to court records.
(Note regarding "Nolle Prosequi" dismissals from the Shelby County D.A.'s Office: "It is crucial to remember that a case's dismissal in general sessions does not necessarily indicate that it is concluded. A judge may dismiss a case in general sessions for several reasons but this does not preclude the DA’s Office from seeking an indictment.")
MPD officers responded to a shooting call shortly before 5 p.m. on March 11, 2024, in the Walmart parking lot in the 6900 block of E. Shelby Dr. At the time, Memphis police said one woman was taken to Regional One in critical condition.
According to the affidavit, a man told investigators he was being assaulted by two women and two men in the parking lot. The man told police on of the women approached him with a gun while the others assaulted him.
The affidavit does not mention how the shooting happened or who fired a shot.
