FedEx offering $10,000 through CrimeStoppers to help solve pair of FedEx truck robberies in Memphis

CrimeStoppers said the robberies happened about a month apart, and involved multiple people breaking into the trucks and stealing packages.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An unknown amount of packages were stolen from FedEx trucks in Memphis over the past month, and the shipping giant is teaming up with CrimeStoppers to find those responsible.

Memphis CrimeStoppers announced Friday, Dec. 22, 2023, they posted an additional $10,000 award from FedEx for information leading to an arrest of those responsible for two seperate FedEx truck robberies, one on Nov. 11 and the other on Dec. 15.

CrimeStoppers said the first incident, on Nov. 11, happened when multiple cars blocked a tractor trailer at the intersection of Riverport Road and Mallory Avenue. Suspects broke the seal and latch on the back of the trailer and dozens of people from nearby parked cars joined in stealing packages.

Additionally, on December 15, a FedEx vehicle making deliveries near Tennessee Street was targeted by a few people who stole multiple packages before fleeing.

$10,000 will be provided by FedEx, and is in addition to any award determined by the CrimeStoppers Citizen Awards Committee should the Memphis Police Department determine that a tip helped solve these crimes, CrimeStoppers said.

“The brazen theft from FedEx trucks are appalling acts in our community and we appreciate the support from FedEx to help identify the individuals responsible,” said David Wayne Brown, executive director of CrimeStoppers. “We urge anyone with information about any of the individuals involved to call or text CrimeStoppers at (901) 528-CASH. Every contact remains anonymous.”

CrimeStoppers said no one was hurt in either incident, in what they called an "ambush and looting."
