MEMPHIS, Tenn — A former English teacher at Fayette Ware High School faced a judge Thursday, accused of sending sexually graphic messages to students and requesting nude photos from them.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said Frankland Strickland is facing five counts of soliciting a minor and five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. In court Jan. 4, 2024, Strickland told the judge he has hired an attorney.
According to the affidavit, investigators learned of Strickland’s activities in early December 2023 after a mother reported her 15-year-old son was receiving sexually explicit messages from the teacher.
Investigators said Strickland added underage male students to an Instagram group chat where he would send inappropriate messages and ask for nude photos.
Deputies seized Strickland's phone and laptop and found five inappropriate photos of minors, according to the affidavit.
