Former “Survivor” contestant from Germantown pleads to assault charge

Former “Survivor” contestant and Germantown resident Silas Gaither was originally charged with rape and aggravated assault. He pleaded guilty to assault.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — UPDATE 7/16/2021 - Former “Survivor” contestant and Germantown resident Silas Gaither pleaded guilty Thursday to aggravated assault in an incident from 2018.

Gaither had faced charges of rape  and assault. The guilty plea was only to the assault charge.

He received a six year suspended sentence and will be on probation for 6 years.

11/26/2019 - Former “Survivor” contestant and Germantown resident Silas Gaither is facing rape and aggravated assault charges.

Gaither was arrested Monday in Shelby County. A grand jury indicted Gaither over an alleged May 2018 incident. Details of the incident have not been released.

He posted a $50,000 bond and was released from jail Tuesday morning.

Gaither was on Survivor in the 2001-02 season and voted off at the end of the 6th episode.

His arraignment is set January 9th, 2020.
