MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Court records show three of the four suspects arrested in connection with multiple robberies in April and May 2024 have been granted diversion.
Denisha Lewis and Angelica Washington were granted diversion on one count of theft each on July 16, 2024, according to court records.
Court records show Deshun Lewis was granted diversion on two counts of robbery on July 31.
The cases continue against one other suspect - Calvin Langston.
Officers said they responded to a robbery call about 7 p.m. on April 14, 2024, to La Michoacana at 4075 Summer Avenue. Police were told a woman who was carrying her one-year-old child was pushed to the ground by a man who took her diaper bag and other items before running away.
This man was in all-black clothing, according to the account told to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).
Police then responded to the Aldi store at 4720 Summer Avenue on May 25 about another robbery. Officers were told that two women were walking to their vehicle when a man physically assaulted them and pulled one of them out of the vehicle.
Various items were taken out of the vehicle before he left the scene in another vehicle — a black Pontiac Grand Am that had two other suspects in it. This vehicle was reportedly found by police at the Grahamwood Place Apartments in the 4000 block of St. Pierre Boulevard.
Officers said they saw a black ski mask on the floorboard of this vehicle. It was then towed to the City Lot to be processed, according to MPD. Officers were reportedly approached by another man at the apartments who said he was robbed by this person.
The same day, Memphis Police said they responded to the Exxon Gas station at 3985 Summer Avenue about another robbery. This person told police that his wallet was taken while he was waiting in line at the gas station by a man wearing all black. Police were told this suspect ran away on foot toward the Grahamwood Place Apartments.
On May 27, officers said they responded to a robbery outside the Walgreens at 3177 South Perkins Road, according to MPD. Officers were told that a woman was robbed by two men who assaulted her and took her purse. A witness told police that they chased one of the suspects. This suspect was later identified as Calvin Langston, according to MPD.
The witness held the suspect until officers arrived, according to MPD.
On May 28, MPD said Washington, Deshun Lewis, Denisha Lewis, and Langston were developed as suspects. Officers said they executed a search warrant on the Pontiac at the City Lot on May 29 and recovered the black ski mask and wallet associated with the Aldi case. Investigators also executed a search warrant at Lewis' residence on St. Pierre Boulevard, according to MPD, where they said they found stolen property and clothing worn by the suspects during the robberies, according to MPD.
All four were arrested at that time.
