CrimeStoppers announced a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person who murdered a Memphis business owner outside his beauty supply store in Frayser.
Memphis Police previously released pictures of the suspects who they said shot and killed Khaled Eleiwa (also identified by members of his community as Khalid Al Gazowi). CrimeStoppers officials said friends of Elewia provided $6,000 for the reward, in addition to the $4,000 offered by CrimeStoppers in homicide cases.
MPD officers responded to the shooting call at Beauty Royal in the 3400 block of North Watkins Street about 11:40 a.m. on April 19, 2024. Officers said Eleiwa dead at the scene.
Investigators said three suspects were in a maroon 2011 Toyota Sequoia with temporary Tennessee tags, which CrimeStoppers said had been stolen.
MPD said one suspect was dressed in all black, black and green shoes, white gloves, a blue mask, and a white head covering.
A second suspect was wearing black, a white and black mask, black and white shoes, and red and black gloves.
The third suspect was wearing a black hoodie, black pants, white tee shirt, white and black hat, red and black gloves, and white and black shoes.
Investigators said the suspects were last seen running west on Gowan Drive.
“In a case like this, with video footage available, someone recognizes a suspect or knows what happened and who are the likely shooters,” said David Wayne Brown, executive director of CrimeStoppers. “We urge anyone who knows something about this killing of a man who was well-liked in the community to call.”
