MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Mugshots Bar and Grill is experiencing legal troubles after four handguns from unlicensed security guards, 238 bottles of liquor, and 50 cases of beer was seized from the bar by Memphis Police Department’s Multi-Agency Gang Unit and other local law enforcement on March 18.
According to MPD, the Multi-Agency Gang unit acquired a warrant after receiving several complaints alleging that the bar was selling alcohol without a permit to sale. The unit also received complaints claiming that the bar allowed the sale and usage of narcotic drugs on its property, as well as claims that the bar employed unlicensed security guards.
MPD further reported that there were several complaints of shootings at Mugshots.
MPD’s Multi-Agency Gang Unit Detectives, Shelby County Sheriff’s office DUI, Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission Agents, Memphis Fire Department’s Fire Marshal, and Shelby County Code enforcement all executed the search warrant.
During the search, five security guards were issued misdemeanor citations for being unlicensed security guards. Mugshots’ owner, Shereva Dortch, also received a misdemeanor citation for the unlawful sale and storage of liquor and beer without an alcohol permit.
MPD confirmed that multiple arrests were made after the execution of the search warrant was complete.
