MEMPHIS, Tenn — On Thursday, two days after Halloween, the Memphis Police Department (MPD) revealed the results of sex offender compliance checks in the days leading up to the holiday.
The Memphis Police Department Sex Crime Divisions of the Sex Offender Registry and the Internet Crimes Against Children Units completed these compliance checks, which took four days, and nine MPD officers were assigned.
According to MPD, these checks serve as a reminder to offenders to remain in compliance with state law and to avoid participation in Halloween that may attract the attention of a minor.
Memphis police said they made contact with 207 offenders. Officers said they found violations of 34 offenders, made two arrests and issued 28 warrants.
MPD charged Kenneth Mason and Erica Allen with Tennessee sexual offender and violent sexual offender registration, verification, and tracking act of 2004 to wit: residential/work restrictions and offender ID Required.
Additionally, they issued warrants for Tennessee sexual offender and violent sexual offender registration, verification, and tracking act of 2004 to wit: failure of offender to timely report or register for the following:
