MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is seriously hurt after a shooting happened on I-40 near Jackson Avenue early Monday morning.
The Memphis Police Department responded to the interstate shooting Aug. 19, 2024, around 2 a.m. at I-40 and Austin Peay Highway. When officers arrived, they saw a 2002 Lexus ES300 with multiple bullet holes on the driver side and a man injured on the side of the highway with lacerations on his face and the back of his head.
He told investigators he was leaving Cache 42 on Hacks Cross Road and on his way home when the shooting happened. He did not see who fired the shots.
First responders took the man to Regional One Health in critical condition. Investigators said his condition later improved to non-critical.
Police said there is no suspect information as of yet and the investigation is still underway.
