Check this out: Here's how Memphis crime rates compare to other large cities

Compared to 2023, Memphis has seen less aggravated assaults, car thefts rape and robberies in 2024 according to MPD, but more murder.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Gun shots ringing out in Hickory Hill continue the violent trend known all too familiar in Memphis and across the country.

A recent Gallup Poll show 63% of Americans believe crime is a very serious issue in the country, the highest since the poll began more than 20 years ago.

With all the worries, ABC24 decided to dig into where the Bluff City compares to with the rest of the country. According to MPD, the frequency of most major crimes decreased YTD from 2023 to 2024.
