MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Washington man was arrested last week at Memphis International Airport after being found with nearly 60 pounds of marijuana.

Aisaih Alexander was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture, sell or distribute on Nov. 15, 2024 at the airport.

A Memphis Airport Police Department narcotics officer and K-9 were patrolling the airport when the dog alerted to two large hard shell suitcases, according to the affidavit.

The bags were sent to the claim carousel while officers waited to see who picked them up.

When Alexander was approached, officers asked if there was a reason why the dog would alert on his bag and he replied, "no," according to the affidavit.

Alexander allegedly said he wasn't sure what was in the bag and gave consent to the officers to search it.

In the first suitcase, officers found 24 vacuum sealed plastic bags filled with "a green leafy substance," weighing 28.1 pounds, according to the affidavit.

The second suitcase contained 26 vacuum sealed plastic bags, weighing a total of 30.6 pounds. All fifty of the bags tested positive for THC with a total weight of 58.7 pounds.

Alexander is set to have a bond hearing Nov. 22, 2024 and remains in jail on a $70,000 bond.
