Man arrested for fatal October hit-and-run in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The U.S. Marshals Service announced the arrest of a man responsible for a hit-and-run that left a woman dead in October.

On Oct. 26, Deandrea Clark, 37, was allegedly involved in a crash on I-385 and Kirby Pkwy. According to a press release from the U.S. Marshals Service, reports said Clark crashed into another vehicle while driving 85 mph in a 40-mph lane and ran away from the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, 53, was taken to a Memphis hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The Memphis Police Department issued a warrant for vehicular homicide, hit-and-run involving death or serious injury, driving on a suspended license, failure to exercise due care, duty to render aid and violation of financial responsibility law, according to the press release.

The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force adopted the case to find and apprehend Clark.

On the afternoon of Monday, Dec. 4, the Two Rivers Task Force and Shelby County Fugitive Apprehension Team went to an address on Weaver Meadows Ln. Moments after investigators announced their presence at the front door, Clark surrendered. He was placed under arrest and taken to the Shelby County Jail, where he is being held on a $50,000 bond.
