MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Shelby County Grand Jury is set to take up the case against a man charged after police said he and another suspect forced their way into a warehouse and stole over $75,000 worth of cell phones.
Ralphael Boddie, 40, is charged with theft of property worth $10,000 to $60,000 and burglary of a building. He is out of jail on $25,000 bond. The case was sent to the grand jury on April 23.
According to court records, the Memphis Police Department responded to a burglary Nov. 20 at the Envoy Source warehouse on East Shelby Drive. A witness told police that someone had pried open a dock door and stole 751 cell phones worth $100 each, totaling $75,100.
Video footage captured two suspects arriving at the scene in a dark colored Lexus sedan and committing the burglary on Nov. 19, courts said.
Thanks to a CrimeStoppers tip, police developed Boddie as a suspect and found $29,500 worth of cell phones in his car, court records said. Boddie was later charged in regard to this amount.
