MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man charged with shooting a FedEx employee is back in jail after he was previously released on own recognizance in November.
A Shelby County judge set Tyreese Earnest's bond to $200,000 during an emergency writ hearing Friday, Dec. 13, 2024.
Earnest, 18, is one of three men charged in a shooting that happened at around 4 a.m. on Oct. 30, 2024, in the FedEx Hub parking lot. He is charged with attempted second-degree murder, employing a firearm with intent to commit a felony, reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, and vandalism.
According to court records, during a hearing on Nov. 12, Judge Bill Anderson had reduced Earnest’s bond from $200,000 to ROR (Released on Own Recognizance).
In November, Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy said a court had granted emergency writs in the cases of two recent shooting suspects released without bail — which included Earnest — as the DA sought to return Earnest to jail.
