Man charged with stabbing wife to death & trying to clean up the scene

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — UPDATE 10/28/2021 - Memphis Police said a man is now charged with stabbing his wife to death Wednesday morning at an apartment near downtown Memphis.

Robert Washington is charged with first degree murder.

According to the police affidavit, officers responding to a wounding call about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Eddison Apartments in the 500 block of Techno Lane found the victim, identified as Trenccia Brown, on a loveseat in a living room. They said she had been cut and stabbed several times and was covered in blood. Brown died at the scene.

Investigators who arrived said Brown also had "sharp force trauma" to her front and back torso and her right forearm. 

Robert Washington was detained, and according to the affidavit, he confessed on video to the stabbing. Investigators said Washington told them he stabbed Brown in the chest while they were arguing. They said he admitted to trying to clean up the blood with "Fabuloso" cleaner and a vacuum but "it was too much blood." Investigators said they found the cleaner in a trash can.

Washington remains in jail without bond and is due in court Friday.

10/27/2021 - Memphis Police say a man is in custody after a woman was stabbed to death Wednesday.

Officers were on the scene of a wounding call in the 500 block of Techno Cove, near Jefferson Avenue. They found a woman stabbed. She died from her injuries.

Investigators said a known suspect was detained. They did not say what led to the stabbing.
