MEMPHIS, Tenn. — UPDATE 9/29/2021 - A Cordova man has been indicted in a killing after an apparent road rage fight.
30-year-old Theodore Cohen was indicted on second-degree murder charges. He is being held on a $2.5 million bond.
Investigators said Cohen and 27-year-old James Lane of Olive Branch, Mississippi, got into a fight on the side of Hacks Cross Road near Holmes Road about 7:30 a.m. on April 9, 2021. They said during the fight, Cohen slashed Lane across the neck with a knife, then drove away.
Lane died at the hospital.
Police said Cohen was identified after his vehicle was seen on traffic cameras. He was arrested later that same day at his parents’ east Memphis home. Investigators said he had a combat-style knife in a holster on his waistband.
Prosecutors said Cohen was on probation at the time of the attack for a 2018 aggravated assault conviction.

4/9/2021 - Shelby County detectives are investigating after a man was found injured near a vehicle in southeast Shelby County.
Detectives found the victim about 7:30 a.m. Friday morning in the 5300 block of Hacks Cross, near Holmes Road. He was taken to Regional One, where he later died.
The area was closed to traffic for the investigation Friday morning.
Investigators have not said how the victim, identified Friday evening as 27-year-old James Lane of Desoto County, was injured, only that it is a homicide investigation.
