MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman is in jail and facing charges after reportedly shooting her boyfriend early Tuesday morning in Whitehaven.
The Memphis Police Department (MPD) responded to the shooting Oct. 17 shortly before 1 a.m. in the 4700 block of Brigidier Street, where officers found a man with an apparent gunshot wound.
He was taken to Regional One Health in non-critical condition.
According to an affidavit, the man's girlfriend, Kemberly Scott, told officers she did not know who shot him. However, officers found surveillance video from a nearby apartment showing Scott arguing with her boyfriend and shooting at him one time in the parking lot of the apartment complex.
She was taken into custody, and she waived her rights, requesting to speak with investigators, the affidavit stated. Scott said she and her boyfriend came from downtown and she entered their residence first. According to the affidavit, she said her boyfriend entered the home shot and the shooter is unknown.
Scott is facing an aggravated assault charge. Her bond is set at $60,000.
